# CAR FINANCE COMMISSION COMPLAINT

Date: 21 August 2033

Parties: Maya Patel and Northline Motor Finance Ltd

## 1. Purpose and parties

I, Maya Patel of 27 Brook Street, Leicester LE2 1QX, complain about the regulated hire-purchase agreement supplied by Northline Motor Finance Ltd for a 2021 Ashford Kestrel bought from Greenway Cars on 2 February 2022. Agreement NF-220204 shows cash price £14,000, deposit £2,000 and amount financed £12,000.

## 2. Facts, scope and terms

The agreement required 48 monthly payments of £342 and a final payment of £4,200. The scheduled total of payments was £20,616 (£342 × 48 = £16,416, plus £4,200), and adding the £2,000 deposit gives £22,616 before any separately stated charges. I was told the dealer would find finance, but no commission amount, rate-setting discretion or conflict was explained before I signed.

## 3. Process and responsibilities

I now understand that historic motor-finance commission arrangements and the scope of applicable rules and complaints handling may be affected by current regulatory developments. I do not assert that a commission was paid or that it automatically makes the agreement unlawful. I ask Northline to identify whether it paid Greenway anything, how the APR or rate was selected, and what disclosure was made at the time.

## 4. Evidence, records and safeguards

Please provide the signed agreement, pre-contract information, commission and broker records, call recordings, rate sheets, affordability assessment and all notices about the complaint. Please also state the outstanding balance, payments received and any early-settlement or termination calculation. I have paid 18 instalments, totalling £6,156, but that figure is not a claim for £6,156 because it includes capital and interest.

## 5. Review, escalation and outcome

Please investigate and issue a final response under your complaints procedure, explaining the legal and regulatory basis for your decision and any redress methodology. If a refund is considered, it should account for the benefit of finance, capital repaid, interest, commission and any applicable interest or tax rather than double-counting my payments. I will review a clear calculation before accepting it.

## 6. Reservations and practical protections

Until this complaint is resolved I will continue making contractual payments when due, without waiving rights or admitting the balance is correctly calculated. I will not authorise disclosure of unrelated customer data. If eligible and unresolved after the required period, I may refer the complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service, subject to its jurisdiction and time limits; court proceedings would be a separate decision.

## 7. England and Wales law and completion

This completed fictional complaint is dated 21 August 2033 and concerns a regulated consumer-credit agreement in England and Wales. It is not a request to stop payment, a finding of undisclosed commission or a guaranteed compensation claim. Northline should preserve records, acknowledge receipt, and tell me if any limitation or regulatory pause affects its response.
