# REQUEST FOR PROTECTION FROM DOMESTIC ABUSE

Date: 22 April 2025

Parties: From Priya Shah, applicant, concerning former partner Lewis Grant, to Harriet Cole, family-law solicitor at Cole & Partners, West Mercia

## 1. Addressee, parties and urgent safety

I am Priya Shah, aged 34, living with my son at a confidential address. I ask Harriet Cole, family-law solicitor at Cole & Partners, to advise me about safe next steps concerning Lewis Grant, my former partner; this request is not addressed to him. He is not invited to contact or visit us. If I or my son face immediate danger I will call 999; I will not confront Lewis or send this request to him. I also understand that Refuge, Women’s Aid, an IDVA and a solicitor can help with a safety plan.

## 2. Chronology and impact

After our relationship ended on 2 April 2025, Lewis sent 46 messages between 3 and 20 April, waited outside my workplace on 9 April, and left a note at my sister’s home on 17 April. I told him on 3 April not to contact me. The messages include threats to take our son and repeated demands for my location; I have changed my routine and feel unsafe.

## 3. Basis and procedure

I seek advice on an application for a non-molestation order under the Family Law Act 1996, and on whether occupation protection or another remedy is relevant. I understand the court decides on the evidence and that an order may be made with or without notice only under the current rules. This letter alone does not start proceedings; I must use the current prescribed form, court guidance and service arrangements.

## 4. Advice requested and deadline

Please advise by 29 April 2025 how to make a safe application, request confidentiality, and preserve contact arrangements for our child without direct contact. Please explain which current prescribed form, supporting evidence and service arrangements are required. I ask that the court consider prohibiting harassment, direct or indirect contact and attendance at my workplace or sister’s home, but I do not assume any order will be granted. I will verify the current deadline, fee and emergency route before filing.

## 5. Evidence and signature

I can provide screenshots with dates and sender details, the 3 April boundary message, CCTV information from my workplace, my sister’s note, and the police incident reference 4521/09APR25. I have not altered the originals. Signed, Priya Shah, applicant, 22 April 2025; confidential address withheld for safety.
