# EXAMPLE: EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES POLICY
Date: 29 January 2028
Parties: Cedar North Ventures Limited and its workforce
## 1. Purpose
Cedar North provides equal opportunity from application through departure and will not discriminate because of a protected characteristic, part-time or fixed-term status, pregnancy, maternity, trade-union activity or caring responsibility.
## 2. Scope
Recruitment uses a written role profile, structured questions and recorded scoring. A panel must declare conflicts, use accessible advertising and offer a reasonable adjustment such as extra interview time.
## 3. Responsibilities
Managers allocate projects, training, promotion and pay by evidence-based criteria. A request for flexible working, maternity leave or disability-related equipment is considered separately from performance.
## 4. Policy-specific rules
The People Team owns demographic monitoring, checks pay bands annually and investigates unexplained differences. Individual data is reported in aggregated form and is not used to stereotype a person.
## 5. Reporting
An applicant or worker may report discrimination to a manager, People Team or confidential channel. The recipient acknowledges it within two working days, protects against victimisation and arranges an impartial review.
## 6. Process
A formal process gives each person the allegation or concern, relevant evidence and an opportunity to respond. Outcomes may include correction, mediation, training, back pay or disciplinary action; the appeal route is stated in writing.
## 7. Review and approval
The Equality Lead reviews this policy every year with employee representatives, publishes an action plan and records accessibility changes. The policy does not prevent a tribunal claim, protected disclosure or ACAS early conciliation.
