# ESTATE INVENTORY AND COLLECTION LETTER

Date: 8 January 2033

Parties: Priya Nair, executor of the estate of Thomas Nair, and Daniel Nair

## 1. Purpose and parties

I, Priya Nair of 6 Willow Lane, York YO10 4PT, am the executor named in Thomas Nair's will dated 12 March 2028. Thomas died on 19 November 2032, and I write to his son Daniel Nair of 24 Moor Road, York YO24 1DF with an interim inventory for information, not as a distribution or a final estate account.

## 2. Facts, scope and terms

The assets identified so far are a current account of £18,600, savings of £42,400, household contents provisionally valued at £6,800, and a 2018 Honda Civic valued at £7,200. The gross total is therefore £75,000. These figures are provisional: bank balances, debts, tax, professional costs and any later-discovered asset must still be checked.

## 3. Process and responsibilities

The York flat is not included in that total because its registered title and mortgage position are being verified. A local agent's indicative value is £285,000 and the mortgage redemption statement requested on 20 December 2032 showed £96,000 outstanding, but neither figure is a confirmed net estate value or a promise to sell.

## 4. Evidence, records and safeguards

I have secured the flat, notified the home insurer, redirected post and asked the bank for date-of-death balances. I will collect the Honda only after confirming insurance and storage arrangements. Personal papers will be reviewed for liabilities and gifts; I will not distribute property merely because an item appears on this interim list.

## 5. Review, escalation and outcome

The will leaves the residue equally to Daniel and his sister Maya Nair, subject to administration. Before distribution I must identify funeral expenses, debts, income tax, any inheritance-tax position and administration costs. A Grant of Probate may be required for assets held in Thomas's sole name; obtaining a grant does not itself prove every valuation or extinguish claims.

## 6. Reservations and practical protections

Please send any information about accounts, insurance, debts or property by 31 January 2033, with copies rather than irreplaceable originals. I will keep an asset schedule and receipts, communicate material changes, and provide a fuller account when the grant, liabilities and property position are sufficiently clear. If a dispute arises, the parties should take independent probate advice rather than treat this letter as a binding division.

## 7. England and Wales law and completion

This completed fictional letter is governed by the law applicable in England and Wales and is dated 8 January 2033. It is not legal or tax advice, a notice under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, or a final account. I reserve the estate's position, will protect confidential personal data, and will make distributions only when lawfully authorised and prudent.
