# FUNERAL WISHES AND LETTER OF INSTRUCTION

Date: 12 July 2029

Parties: Margaret Ellis

## 1. Maker and background

I, Margaret Ellis of 26 Wren Street, York YO1 6QA, write this letter for my executors and family. It expresses my wishes and practical instructions, but it is not my will, a codicil, or a binding direction to my personal representatives.

## 2. Family and assets

I would prefer a cremation at York Crematorium, with a quiet humanist ceremony led by Jo Fletcher if available. I would like immediate family and close friends invited, without a formal dress code, and I do not want anyone to feel obliged to attend.

## 3. Requested treatment

Please play “Fields of Gold” on arrival and “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” at the close, subject to licensing and the venue's availability. I would prefer seasonal flowers from local growers and a charity collection for York Mind.

## 4. Guidance to representatives

If cremated, I would like half of my ashes offered to my daughter Rachel for interment in the family plot and half scattered at the permitted viewpoint on the North York Moors. My executors must check permissions and must follow the crematorium's instructions.

## 5. Change and withdrawal

My executors should contact Northgate Funeral Directors (01904 555 218), tell my GP and notify the person holding my will at Bell & Marsh Solicitors. My prepaid plan is with Hearthstone Funerals, policy HF-29184; the policy and will are in the locked cabinet.

## 6. Legal reservations

I do not authorise anyone to incur expenditure beyond the estate's means or to disregard the legal authority of the personal representatives. Preferences may change, and I ask my family to discuss any conflict respectfully rather than treating this letter as a substitute for legal advice.

## 7. Signature and storage

I sign and date this letter on 12 July 2029 and will place a copy with my will and give one to Rachel. I intend to review it annually; the latest signed letter should be considered, subject always to my will and applicable law.
