# JOB-SHARING PROPOSAL

Date: 20 May 2025

Parties: Proposers: Sophie Evans and Marcus Reed, employees of Alderbrook Housing Association, 9 Castle Street, Exeter EX1 1AA. Recipient: line manager Ruth Bennett.

## 1. Role and proposed pattern

We propose sharing the one full-time Housing Officer post from 1 September 2025. Sophie will work Monday, Tuesday and alternate Wednesdays; Marcus will work Thursday, Friday and the intervening Wednesdays. Each would work 18.5 hours weekly, with the existing role's duties divided rather than duplicated.

## 2. Handover and service cover

The outgoing person will update the secure case log before 16:00 on their last day, list urgent actions and attend a 30-minute handover call each Wednesday. Ruth will allocate urgent matters and approve leave cover. We will not share passwords, and both will follow data-protection and safeguarding procedures.

## 3. Pay, objectives and accountability

If approved, each contract and salary would be confirmed in writing at the applicable 0.5 full-time-equivalent rate, with holiday and pension treatment checked by HR. Each person would have individual objectives and jointly measured service deadlines. Job sharing would not remove either person's normal performance, conduct or attendance process.

## 4. Trial and review

We ask for a three-month trial from 1 September to 30 November 2025, with a review on 29 September and a final meeting on 28 November. The review will consider resident response times, case-log accuracy, workload and each person's feedback; it will not predetermine continuation, capability or any later application.

## 5. Decision and signatures

Please acknowledge by 30 May and tell us what consultation, equality, leave and contractual information HR needs. We understand the proposal may be declined or revised and that current law, policy, forms and deadlines must be checked. Signed, Sophie Evans and Marcus Reed, 20 May 2025.
