# SAMPLE LETTER OF WISHES

Date: 1 July 2029

Parties: Eleanor May Hart and Daniel James Hart

## 1. Maker and background

I, Eleanor May Hart of 18 Harbour View Road, York YO10 2LD, write this private letter to my executors, currently Daniel James Hart and Priya Nair. It is guidance for my will dated 1 July 2029, not a separate testamentary document.

## 2. Family and assets

After debts, tax and administration costs, I hope my executors will explain matters patiently to my children, Amelia and Joseph, and preserve a reasonable emergency fund for Amelia while she completes her nursing course.

## 3. Requested treatment

I would like £2,000 from the residue to go to York Hospice, provided the gift in my will is valid and the charity can be identified. My executors may obtain advice rather than follow an impractical request.

## 4. Guidance to trustees

I hope my grandmother's ring goes to Amelia and my record collection to Joseph. These wishes are personal and non-binding; my executors should consider equal value, the condition of items and any later written message.

## 5. Change and withdrawal

I would prefer a small woodland burial near York if lawful and affordable, with a simple service. Funeral wishes are not directions to a funeral provider and should yield to the wishes and needs of those arranging it.

## 6. Legal reservations

I ask Daniel and Priya to act impartially, keep estate records and consider tax and practical consequences. This letter must not be used to change a beneficiary, create a trust or override the signed will.

## 7. Signature and storage

I may replace or withdraw this letter by a dated written statement. I sign it on 1 July 2029 and ask the executors to store it with the original will; England and Wales law governs its interpretation.
