# NOTICE PERIOD WAIVER LETTER
Date: 2 November 2031
Parties: Cedar House Publishing Limited and Robert Hughes
## 1. Purpose and parties
Robert Hughes is employed by Cedar House Publishing Limited as Head of Sales under an employment contract dated 14 January 2028. He resigned on 1 October 2031, giving three months' contractual notice, so the original termination date would have been 31 December 2031. The parties now agree an earlier end because Robert has accepted a non-competing role beginning 15 November 2031.
## 2. Facts, scope and terms
Cedar House and Robert agree that employment will terminate at 17:00 on 14 November 2031, waiving the final 47 days of notice. Robert will not work or remain on garden leave after that time. The waiver is mutual and voluntary; it is not a dismissal, does not alter the fact of his resignation, and does not require Cedar House to provide work during the waived period.
## 3. Process and responsibilities
Under clause 12 of the contract, Cedar House will pay £18,800.00 gross in lieu of the 47 unworked days, calculated as £146,000 ÷ 365 × 47 and rounded to the nearest penny, excluding discretionary bonus. The payment is employment income subject to PAYE and employee National Insurance, will be made with November payroll on 28 November 2031, and is separate from £6,420 commission already earned.
## 4. Evidence, records and safeguards
Robert will return the company laptop, encrypted phone, security pass, customer files and vehicle keys to Finance Manager Elaine Brooks by 16:00 on 14 November. He must not copy or retain confidential manuscripts, pricing information or customer data, and his confidentiality, intellectual-property assignment and data-protection duties survive termination. No post-termination non-compete applies, but existing non-solicitation wording remains effective for six months.
## 5. Review, escalation and outcome
Cedar House will issue a factual reference recording Robert's job title, employment dates from 14 January 2028 to 14 November 2031 and final salary, provided he signs the reference request. Both sides will keep a signed copy, the payroll calculation, commission statement and asset checklist. Robert will update his contact address to 6 Willow Mews, Oxford OX2 7QH for final tax documents.
## 6. Reservations and practical protections
The parties release only claims arising from the unworked notice arrangement and payment, and do not exclude accrued holiday, unpaid commission, personal-injury rights, pension rights or claims that cannot lawfully be waived. A disagreement about calculation must be raised with Elaine within seven days; the parties will meet on 20 November 2031 and may mediate before court proceedings.
## 7. England and Wales law and completion
This completed fictional agreement is dated 2 November 2031 and governed by England and Wales law. The agreed termination date is 14 November 2031, not 31 December 2031; all obligations expressly stated to survive continue, and the agreement takes effect when Robert and Elaine sign it for the parties. Each signatory confirms authority and receipt of a counterpart.
