# ONLINE FRAUD REPORT AND CHARGEBACK DEMAND

Date: 27 June 2030

Parties: Sofia Bennett and Wessex Bank plc

## 1. Purpose and parties

To Wessex Bank fraud team: I am Sofia Bennett, account ending 0907. On 18 June 2030 I paid £2,400 by Faster Payment to account 20-44-61 / 88990011 after responding to a convincing website, “Harbour Tech Outlet”, advertising a discounted laptop. The website disappeared and no goods arrived.

## 2. Facts, scope and terms

This was an authorised push-payment purchase-fraud transaction induced by deception, not an unauthorised payment. I contacted Wessex within 40 minutes, supplied the URL, messages, invoice, payment confirmation and receiving-account details, and asked it to recall funds and contact the receiving bank urgently.

## 3. Process and responsibilities

I have reported the matter to Action Fraud, reference NF-2030-771, and notified the platform hosting the advert. I did not ignore a clear warning, act dishonestly or behave with gross negligence; the site used a genuine-looking Companies House number and card-style checkout. Please assess the facts under the applicable Payment Systems Regulator APP reimbursement rules and any bank code.

## 4. Evidence, records and safeguards

Please attempt an immediate recall and freeze request, investigate the receiving account, and reimburse the £2,400 or explain the precise exclusion relied upon. Please also explain the sending-bank warning, payee verification and response timeline. A card chargeback may not apply to a bank transfer, but I ask you to consider every available recovery route.

## 5. Review, escalation and outcome

Preserve call recordings, fraud-screen results, payee-check data, Faster Payments messages and communications with the receiving bank. I enclose the screenshots, domain details, email headers, invoice, bank statement and Action Fraud reference. Please do not disclose investigation-sensitive information or tip off a suspect.

## 6. Reservations and practical protections

If Wessex rejects reimbursement or fails to give a final response within the applicable eight-week period, I will complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service and provide the reference. I reserve civil recovery and police-report rights; an Action Fraud report does not guarantee recovery or mean a criminal charge has been brought.

## 7. England and Wales law and completion

Service may be by secure message, post to Wessex Bank Fraud Complaints, or email sofia.bennett@example.co.uk as alternative methods. England and Wales law and the applicable payment rules apply. Yours faithfully, Sofia Bennett, 27 June 2030.
