# PARENTAL LEAVE POLICY
Date: 11 March 2031
Parties: Northmoor Analytics Limited and its eligible employees
## 1. Purpose and parties
This policy applies to eligible Northmoor employees who have or expect to have parental responsibility for a child. It explains statutory unpaid parental leave and related family-leave options; it does not replace the employee's contract, statutory regulations or a more generous contractual benefit.
## 2. Facts, scope and terms
Subject to the current statutory eligibility and notice rules, an employee may take parental leave to care for a child, normally in blocks of a week, up to the statutory entitlement for that child. Leave is ordinarily limited to four weeks in a year unless the law or an agreed arrangement provides otherwise.
## 3. Process and responsibilities
The employee gives the notice and evidence required by law, including the child's expected date of birth, placement or date of birth and the leave dates. HR will confirm eligibility, record leave confidentially and discuss whether annual leave, unpaid leave, flexible working, maternity, adoption, paternity or shared parental leave better fits the circumstances.
## 4. Evidence, records and safeguards
Northmoor may postpone a requested period only where the statutory conditions for postponement are met and will not postpone it into the prohibited period around birth or placement. A request is not refused merely because a manager dislikes family responsibilities. Health and safety and safeguarding concerns are escalated appropriately.
## 5. Review, escalation and outcome
Employees remain protected from detriment, dismissal and discrimination for exercising a family-leave right. Benefits and continuity are administered under current law and the governing scheme. Managers must offer accessible forms and reasonable adjustments and must not ask for unnecessary medical or family information.
## 6. Reservations and practical protections
A concern is raised with HR, followed by the grievance and appeal process. The policy is reviewed when legislation or official guidance changes; the current statutory framework prevails over a mistaken summary. HR keeps an audit trail of notice, decision, postponement reason and return date.
## 7. England and Wales law and completion
England and Wales employment law applies. This policy is issued on 11 March 2031 and is non-contractual guidance unless expressly incorporated; statutory parental-leave rights cannot be waived. Priya Shah, HR Director, approves it.
