# PAY REDUCTION CONSULTATION LETTER
Date: 18 March 2031
Parties: Northmoor Analytics Limited and Sophie Grant
## 1. Purpose and parties
Northmoor writes to Sophie Grant about a proposed temporary reduction in salary from £52,000 to £46,000 per year for six months from 1 May 2031. A material fall in recurring revenue is the genuine business reason; this letter is an invitation to consult, not notice that the change already operates.
## 2. Facts, scope and terms
The proposal would preserve Sophie's role, hours, holiday and pension arrangements under their governing rules, subject to lawful payroll calculations. It would not reduce pay below the National Minimum Wage or alter accrued salary. Northmoor has considered cost controls, recruitment pauses and voluntary alternatives.
## 3. Process and responsibilities
Sophie is invited to a meeting on 25 March with a companion where applicable and may submit written views by 1 April. She may ask questions about forecasts, duration, review triggers, equality impact and alternatives. Northmoor will genuinely consider representations and will not treat silence as agreement.
## 4. Evidence, records and safeguards
The company supplies a financial summary and explains the proposed review on 31 July. Sophie should receive an individual written variation if she agrees; no payroll change is made without clear authority. HR records consultation, accessibility needs and any conflict, keeping commercially sensitive information limited.
## 5. Review, escalation and outcome
If no agreement is reached, Northmoor will consider whether the existing contract continues, whether further consultation or a lawful termination-and-re-engagement process is proposed, and the risks of dismissal. It will not threaten dismissal to bypass consultation and will take advice on notice, discrimination and collective issues.
## 6. Reservations and practical protections
Sophie may raise a grievance or ask for a representative. Nothing waives unlawful-deduction, Equality Act 2010, minimum-wage, working-time or unfair-dismissal rights. The proposal may be withdrawn if trading improves or if an alternative is agreed.
## 7. England and Wales law and completion
The letter is dated 18 March 2031 and served by hand, post and hr@northmoor.example as separate permitted methods. England and Wales employment law applies; Priya Shah signs for Northmoor and asks Sophie to acknowledge receipt, not consent.
