# PENSION TRANSFER REQUEST LETTER

Parties: Oliver Hughes and Calder Engineering Pension Scheme

## 1. Purpose and parties

Oliver Hughes asks the trustees of Calder Engineering Pension Scheme for information about transferring his deferred defined-benefit pension to the regulated Oakbridge SIPP. He is considering consolidation after receiving general information, but has not decided that a transfer is suitable.

## 2. Facts, scope and terms

The scheme should provide a current Cash Equivalent Transfer Value, its validity period, discharge forms and a list of any conditions. Oliver asks it to identify guaranteed annuity rates, early-retirement benefits, inflation protection and other safeguarded benefits that would be surrendered.

Because the indicative CETV is £186,400, Oliver understands that appropriate regulated financial advice is required before a DB transfer can proceed. He will obtain advice from an FCA-authorised adviser and will not treat this request as an instruction to complete or release funds.

Oliver gives the receiving scheme name and FCA register reference, but asks the trustees to perform their own checks. He records that there was no unsolicited contact, guaranteed return or pressure, and will review MoneyHelper guidance and the Pension Scams Industry Group checklist before signing anything.

The trustees should explain the Pension Schemes Act 2021 red-flag and amber-flag process, any Pension Wise or other guidance appointment, identity checks and expected timescale. Oliver asks for secure delivery of personal and National Insurance information and a named contact for questions.

If advice is negative, documents are incomplete or scam indicators arise, Oliver may stop without penalty other than a disclosed quotation cost. The request does not waive tax, transfer or scheme-member rights, and no QROPS or overseas transfer is proposed in this example.
