# PROMISSORY NOTE
Date: 10 June 2029
Parties: Thomas Reed and Amelia Shaw
## 1. Parties and purpose
For value received, Thomas Reed of 5 Quarry Road, Sheffield S10 3LP (Maker) unconditionally promises to pay Amelia Shaw of 28 Park Crescent, Leeds LS6 2QA (Payee) the principal sum of £6,000.
## 2. Money and rights
The advance was transferred to Thomas's account on 10 June 2029 for home accessibility works. No further advance is required. This note records a private, unsecured loan and is not intended to be a negotiable instrument under any statute.
## 3. Duties and operation
Thomas will repay £250 on the first day of each month from 1 July 2029 to 1 June 2031, with any remaining balance due on 1 June 2031. Payments must be made by bank transfer quoting “TR-0600”.
## 4. Consent and management
No ordinary interest is payable. If a payment is more than seven days late after written notice, the overdue amount bears simple default interest at 4% per annum, subject to any statutory restriction; Amelia will not compound interest.
## 5. Ending and remedies
Thomas may prepay all or part without penalty. Payments apply first to reasonable enforcement costs, then default interest and then principal. Thomas confirms the debt is not a gift and remains payable by his estate on death.
## 6. Legal reservations
An Event of Default occurs on missed payment not cured within 14 days, insolvency, or a materially false statement. Amelia may demand the outstanding balance after notice, but must comply with any mandatory consumer-credit or insolvency procedure.
## 7. Signatures
England and Wales law governs this note and the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. Any variation or waiver must be in writing signed by both parties; this note is signed and dated by the Maker and acknowledged by the Payee.
