# SPORTS PARTICIPATION WAIVER

## 1. Purpose and parties
Riverside Challenge Events Limited, company number 08842176, organises the supervised 10-kilometre Riverside Obstacle Challenge at Riverside Park, Worcester WR2 5JL, on 15 August 2032. Thomas Evans, aged 32, registers as an adult participant under this waiver dated 1 August 2032. His emergency contact is Sarah Evans on 07700 900123. He states that he has no known medical condition that affects participation and takes no regular medication.
## 2. Facts, scope and terms
The course includes running on uneven ground, shallow water, mud, rope and wall obstacles, crawling, lifting a sandbag weighing up to 12 kilograms, slips, trips, falls, collision with another participant, muscle strain, dehydration, heat or cold stress, and cardiovascular exertion. Thomas understands that even with marshals, barriers, first-aid staff and a completed risk assessment dated 20 July 2032, an inherent risk of injury remains. He will follow briefing, signage and marshal instructions and will stop if he feels unwell.
## 3. Process and responsibilities
Thomas accepts responsibility for deciding whether his fitness, footwear and clothing are suitable and will tell Riverside before starting about any disability, medication or relevant health change. Riverside will consider reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010, including a lower obstacle route or additional time where reasonably practicable and consistent with safety. An adjustment is not a guarantee that every obstacle can be completed and does not remove the participant's duty to follow safety instructions.
## 4. Evidence, records and safeguards
Riverside excludes liability only for injury or loss arising from the inherent risks Thomas has freely acknowledged, to the extent the law permits. Nothing excludes or restricts liability for death or personal injury caused by Riverside's negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. In particular, this waiver does not protect Riverside from negligent course design, negligent supervision or failure to take reasonable care. The participant must not sign if he does not understand the limits.
## 5. Review, escalation and outcome
Thomas consents to trained Riverside first-aid staff providing immediate first aid and, if a qualified clinician considers it necessary, to emergency medical assessment and treatment. If he is conscious and able to decide, clinicians must seek his continuing consent; if he is unconscious or cannot communicate, this consent records his prior authorisation subject to clinical judgment. Riverside may contact Sarah Evans and share necessary incident details with emergency services, the insurer and its incident investigators.
## 6. Reservations and practical protections
Thomas will not participate while intoxicated and must disclose an injury arising during the event. Riverside may refuse or stop participation for unsafe conduct, a medical concern, severe weather or an emergency, without promising a refund where the decision is reasonably necessary. Thomas separately chooses no publicity use of his name, image or voice; event photographs may be taken for incident records only unless he later gives written consent. The event has public liability insurance of £2,000,000 with Stonebridge Underwriting, policy RC-2032-88.
## 7. England and Wales law and completion
This completed fictional waiver is dated 1 August 2032 and governed by England and Wales law. It is not a blanket release of negligence and does not transfer Riverside's statutory or common-law safety duties. Thomas confirms that he has read the risk information, had an opportunity to ask questions, provides accurate health and emergency information, and signs voluntarily. Riverside will retain this form and the incident record for seven years after 15 August 2032 unless a longer legal hold is required.
