# STAFF HANDBOOK ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Date: 12 February 2034
Parties: Riverside Foods (York) Ltd and Marcus Bell
## 1. Purpose and parties
Marcus Bell of 7 Station View, York YO24 4DN confirms that he received Riverside Foods (York) Ltd's staff handbook on 12 February 2034. He works as a warehouse coordinator at the company's 5 Foss Road, York YO26 5BL site under an employment contract dated 9 September 2030.
## 2. Facts, scope and terms
Marcus has had a reasonable opportunity to read the handbook, ask his line manager Priya Shah questions and request an accessible copy. He confirms that he understands the published expectations on attendance, health and safety, food hygiene, respectful behaviour, information security and reporting concerns, subject to any reasonable adjustment.
## 3. Process and responsibilities
The handbook is guidance and does not form part of Marcus's employment contract unless a particular provision expressly says otherwise. Policies may be amended or withdrawn after appropriate communication, but a policy cannot override the contract, a collective agreement, legislation, or an individual statutory right.
## 4. Evidence, records and safeguards
Marcus must follow lawful and reasonable management instructions, report accidents and food-safety risks promptly, wear required protective equipment and keep passwords secure. He must not share customer or colleague information outside authorised channels. These acknowledgements do not require him to follow an unlawful instruction or prevent him raising a protected concern.
## 5. Review, escalation and outcome
The absence, disciplinary, grievance and whistleblowing procedures explain routes rather than guaranteeing a particular outcome. Riverside will investigate fairly and give Marcus a chance to respond where a formal process is appropriate. He may ask for a companion at a disciplinary or grievance hearing where the statutory or contractual right applies.
## 6. Reservations and practical protections
Riverside will store this signed acknowledgement with the employment record, restrict access to those who need it and retain it under its retention schedule. Marcus should tell HR if he needs an adjustment, sees an unsafe practice or believes a policy has been applied inconsistently. Questions about payroll or contractual terms remain questions for HR, not a handbook variation.
## 7. England and Wales law and completion
This completed fictional acknowledgement is governed by the law of England and Wales and records receipt, not acceptance of every future policy or admission of misconduct. It does not contract out of the Employment Rights Act 1996, Equality Act 2010, health-and-safety duties, whistleblowing protection or data-protection law. Marcus and Riverside each keep a signed copy.
