TERMS OF SERVICE

Important jurisdiction and consumer-law warning

These fictional terms are an illustrative example for an online service, not legal advice and not universally enforceable terms. They are written for an operator established in England and Wales, but users may live elsewhere. The operator must tailor the document to its actual features, pricing, content, cookies, age restrictions and support arrangements. Mandatory consumer, accessibility, privacy, cancellation, unfair-terms and online-safety rules may override these provisions. Obtain local advice before publishing and ensure the checkout process presents any required information before a user commits.

1. Service and operator

These terms apply to Mapleline Studio, a digital project-planning platform operated by Mapleline Studio Limited, company number 15092741, registered office at 9 Orchard Exchange, Leeds LS1 4DY. The platform provides task boards, document storage, calendar reminders and optional team collaboration. Mapleline Studio Limited, Mapleline, we and us refer to the operator. User and you refer to anyone who visits, creates an account or uses the platform.

By using a free feature, creating an account, or selecting an acceptance button for a paid plan, you agree to the terms that apply to that use. A separate written order takes priority only for the subject it expressly addresses.

2. Account and eligibility

You must provide accurate registration information, keep login credentials confidential and tell us promptly about suspected unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity through your account unless it resulted from our failure to use reasonable security measures. The platform is not intended for children under 16, and a parent or guardian must not create an account for a child where doing so would breach applicable law.

We may refuse registration or require additional verification for security, fraud or legal-compliance reasons. We will explain a restriction where lawful and proportionate.

3. Plans, payment and cancellation

The free plan is provided with the features and storage limits displayed at registration. The Team plan costs £24.00 plus VAT per workspace per month, billed monthly in advance, unless the checkout states a different price. Prices may change for a future billing period after reasonable notice. Payment is processed by our payment provider, and we do not store full card details.

A paid subscription renews automatically until cancelled through the account page or by written notice to support@mapleline.example.test. Cancellation normally stops the next renewal, while access continues until the end of the paid period. A consumer’s statutory cancellation or digital-content rights prevail where they apply.

If an undisputed payment is overdue, we may restrict paid features after reasonable notice. We will not use a restriction to remove data without a fair opportunity to export it, except where urgent security, fraud or legal concerns require immediate action.

4. Content and data

You retain ownership of text, files, images and other material you upload. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, copy, transmit, back up and display that material only as reasonably needed to provide, secure and improve the service. You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed for the material and that its use through the platform will not infringe law or another person’s rights.

We may remove content that we reasonably believe is unlawful, harmful, infringing, malicious or contrary to these terms, while taking account of applicable reporting and appeal obligations. Our Privacy Policy explains how personal data is handled.

5. Acceptable use

You must not use the platform to distribute malware, probe or disrupt systems, circumvent access controls, harvest personal data without authority, send unlawful bulk messages, infringe intellectual-property rights, facilitate fraud, or upload content that is unlawful or creates a serious safety risk. You must not use automated access except through a documented feature or our written permission.

You are responsible for obtaining consent and meeting legal requirements when you upload information about colleagues, clients, children or other people. We may investigate reports, preserve evidence, suspend access or notify an authority where reasonably necessary. This does not make us the publisher or guarantor of every user contribution.

6. Intellectual property and availability

The platform, software, interface, templates and Mapleline branding belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a limited, non-transferable permission to use them during an active account in accordance with these terms. You must not copy, reverse engineer, sell, frame or commercially exploit a component except where the law expressly permits it.

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability. We may carry out maintenance and will give reasonable notice for planned material outages where practicable.

7. Suspension, liability and disputes

We may suspend or close an account for material breach, non-payment, security risk, prolonged inactivity or a legal requirement. We will normally give notice and a reasonable remedy period, except where immediate action is justified. On closure, you may export available content for 30 days, after which we may delete it subject to law, backups and unresolved claims.

Nothing excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or a liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that and mandatory consumer rights, we are not liable for indirect loss or loss of profit. For a business user, our total liability in a contract year is limited to fees paid in that year. Consumer rights and any remedy that cannot lawfully be limited remain unaffected.

We will try to resolve complaints through support@mapleline.example.test. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, but a consumer may have mandatory rights to rely on the law and courts of the place where that consumer lives. Courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction to the extent permitted. These terms do not claim universal legal validity and should be reviewed before use.
