# UNIVERSITY ACADEMIC COMPLAINT AND APPEAL LETTER

Date: 20 May 2030

Parties: Noah Morgan and Westbridge University

## 1. Purpose and parties

To Westbridge University Academic Appeals Office: I am Noah Morgan, student number WB22194, second-year LLB student. I appeal the 38% mark for LAW2001 Contract Law released on 2 May 2030 and complain about the failure to consider my mitigating-circumstances application.

## 2. Facts, scope and terms

My grandmother died on 15 March, two weeks before the examination. I submitted the university form with the death certificate and GP letter on 18 March, reference MC-118, asking for the assessment to be considered under the published policy. My year average is 68%, but the board record supplied to me contains no discussion of MC-118.

## 3. Process and responsibilities

Ground one is procedural: the Academic Regulations require the board to consider an evidenced application before recording a fail. Ground two is factual: the assessor's report attributes answers to me that are not on my script and overlooks the attached chronology. Ground three is remedy: a fair outcome is a fresh assessment or permitted deferral, not an automatic pass.

## 4. Evidence, records and safeguards

I enclose the mark sheet, transcript, MC form, death certificate, GP letter, emails, exam script access note and the relevant regulations. Please preserve board minutes, moderation notes and appeal records. I consent to necessary UK GDPR processing but not disclosure of another student's data.

## 5. Review, escalation and outcome

Please register this as the published stage-one academic appeal, appoint an independent reviewer and suspend any progression or resit consequence while it is decided. I request a reasoned written outcome and correction of the record if the appeal succeeds. I remain willing to meet an adviser and comply with an impartial re-mark.

## 6. Reservations and practical protections

I will use the university's internal review and final appeal stages before approaching the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education. The OIA is an external complaint route after completion of the provider process, not a substitute for the University's own assessment appeal. This letter does not allege academic misconduct.

## 7. England and Wales law and completion

Please reply through the student portal and to noah.morgan@example.co.uk as alternative communication methods. England and Wales law and Westbridge regulations apply. Yours faithfully, Noah Morgan, 20 May 2030.
