# Universal Credit Overpayment — Mandatory Reconsideration Request

Date: 21 September 2026

Parties and reference: Claimant: Aisha Morgan, 22 Cedar Road, Bristol BS5 8LP. To: DWP Universal Credit decision maker, via the secure journal. Decision reference EXAMPLE-UC-0914.

## 1. Decision challenged and timing

Dear Decision Maker, please treat this as a mandatory reconsideration request concerning the decision dated 14 September 2026 that I was overpaid £770 for the assessment period 6 August to 5 September 2026. I received that decision on 16 September and submit this request on 21 September, within one month of the decision date. Please confirm receipt and identify the decision and calculation being reconsidered.

## 2. Earnings discrepancy

The decision schedule appears to count two net earnings entries of £1,400 from my employer, Harbour Catering Ltd. I received only one £1,400 wage payment, on 28 August. My payslip and bank statement support that amount. The employer's payroll correction letter dated 18 September confirms that a duplicate payroll submission was sent and then corrected. The schedule applies a 55% taper with no remaining work allowance: the duplicated £1,400 would account for £770. Please verify that explanation and recalculate the award using the correct earnings and all applicable rules.

## 3. Reasons, records and requested decision

Please provide the earnings data and dates used, the original and revised award calculations, any work allowance and taper applied, and the basis for recoverability. I request revision of the overpayment decision to the correct amount and correction of the account and any deductions if it is reduced. Enclosed are the decision, assessment statement, payslip, relevant redacted bank extract, employer letter and my 29 August journal notification.

## 4. Separate recovery and hardship request

I understand that Universal Credit overpayments may be recoverable even where official error is involved and that requesting reconsideration does not automatically stop recovery. Separately, please ask Debt Management to consider a temporary pause or affordable reduced deductions while the dispute is examined. My attached budget leaves £25 per month after essential living costs. This hardship request is not an admission that the disputed calculation is correct.

## 5. Written outcome and further rights

Please issue a mandatory reconsideration notice with reasons and explain any appeal route and deadline applicable to the revised or maintained decision. Contact me through the secure journal for any missing evidence rather than sending sensitive identifiers by ordinary email. Yours faithfully, Aisha Morgan, signed 21 September 2026.
