# Energy Ombudsman Complaint Letter

Date: 28 September 2026

Parties and reference: Consumer: Noah Bennett, 14 Birch Court, Leeds LS6 3PX. Supplier: Pennine Home Energy Ltd, account EXAMPLE-PE-2841. To: Energy Ombudsman.

## 1. Referral and scheme eligibility

Dear Case Team, I ask you to investigate my domestic electricity billing complaint against Pennine Home Energy Ltd, assumed in this fictional example to participate in your scheme. I first complained on 3 August 2026 and received its deadlock letter dated 21 September 2026. A copy is attached. I refer the complaint on 28 September, within 12 months of that letter and after eight weeks from my original complaint. No court has been asked to determine this dispute.

## 2. Meter readings and disputed bill

The 31 July bill used an estimated closing reading of 18,940 kWh, whereas my dated photograph and the supplier's 2 August verification show 17,700 kWh for meter serial EXAMPLE-M17. The difference is 1,240 kWh. At the invoice's VAT-inclusive unit rate of £0.30 per kWh, the disputed excess is £372. I do not dispute standing charges or other correctly billed usage.

## 3. Supplier response and evidence

The supplier acknowledged the reading but left the estimate in its 24 August revised statement and sent a payment reminder on 7 September. Its deadlock letter says the estimate is reasonable without addressing the verification record. Enclosed are the original bill, meter photograph, verification message, complaint acknowledgement, revised statement, reminder and deadlock letter, arranged by date.

## 4. Requested resolution

Please require an accurate rebill, removal of the £372 excess and related collection charges, correction of any inaccurate credit reporting, and a written explanation and apology. If the sum has already been collected, I request a refund rather than duplicate credit. I ask the supplier to pause recovery of the disputed part while you investigate; I will continue paying undisputed current usage. Please assess any distress or inconvenience award under your scheme rather than treating my request as an automatic entitlement.

## 5. Authority and outcome

I authorise you to obtain relevant account and complaint records for this dispute and to share the complaint with the supplier through your secure process. Please explain the decision, review options and the deadline for accepting any proposed remedy. I understand that remedies depend on the scheme's findings and acceptance process. Yours faithfully, Noah Bennett, signed 28 September 2026.
