# Internship Completion Letter — Paid Data Placement

Date: 19 October 2026

Parties and reference: Employer: Brook Data Ltd, 11 Quay Court, Newcastle NE1 3PX. Intern: Samira Ali. Supervisor: Dr Helen Ross. Placement EXAMPLE-INT-26. Addressed to Samira and, with her permission, a prospective employer.

## 1. Placement and completion

Dear Samira, we confirm that you completed the fixed-term paid Data Operations Internship from 20 July to 16 October 2026 inclusive. Your agreed pattern was Monday to Friday, 37.5 paid hours weekly, with unpaid meal breaks excluded. Payroll and attendance records show 13 weeks and 487.5 paid hours for this placement, with no absence adjustment needed in this example. The agreed fixed term ended on 16 October; this confirmation is not a substitute for the prior contract, required notice or any applicable fair termination procedure.

## 2. Work completed and supervision

Under Dr Ross's supervision you checked 1,200 synthetic customer records for duplicates, documented 18 recurring validation issues and prepared a weekly quality dashboard using spreadsheet formulas and introductory SQL. You presented a final report on 15 October and handed over a reproducible checking guide. Only synthetic training data were used in your portfolio exercise. These tasks were supervised junior work; this letter does not certify independent professional competence, a regulated qualification or authority to advise clients.

## 3. Assessment and reference scope

Your supervisor recorded reliable attendance, careful documentation and constructive responses to feedback. Development goals remain further SQL practice and explaining statistical uncertainty to non-specialists. These observations relate only to this placement and the records reviewed; they are not a guarantee of future performance. We will respond to a specific reference request accurately and fairly through HR, confirming the intended recipient before sharing personal information. A factual reference may be provided without disclosing confidential client or staff information.

## 4. Final pay and handover

The agreed gross rate was £14 per paid hour, producing £6,825 gross basic pay across 487.5 hours before lawful deductions. Amounts already paid are credited, not paid twice. Final payroll on 30 October will include the remaining wages and any accrued untaken statutory or contractual holiday due under the verified leave ledger, with a payslip and P45 as applicable. The laptop and access card were returned on 16 October and system access closed that day. Report any payroll discrepancy to payroll@brookdata.example.com; this letter is not a full-and-final settlement or deduction authority.

## 5. Future work and authorised confirmation

We thank you for your contribution and wish you well. There is no offer of ongoing employment or guarantee of a vacancy; any future role requires a separate written offer and applicable checks. Contractual confidentiality continues according to its terms, without restricting lawful disclosures or employment rights. Please ask HR to correct any factual error in this confirmation. Signed on 19 October 2026 by Laura Bennett, HR Manager, authorised for Brook Data Ltd; verified with supervisor Dr Helen Ross. This is an entirely fictional completed example, not an educational awarding body's certificate.
