# Personal Pension Mis-Selling Complaint

Date: 5 October 2026

Parties and reference: Complainant: Eleanor Finch, 5 Meadow Court, York YO24 3PX. To: Complaints Manager, Northbridge Financial Advice Ltd. Advice reference EXAMPLE-NFA-240205.

## 1. Advice and investment challenged

Dear Complaints Manager, I complain about your 5 February 2024 advice to invest £60,000 of my existing personal pension in the Harbour Specialist Property Fund, executed on 19 February 2024. This is a complaint about regulated personal-pension investment advice, not an allegation about occupational scheme administration or a defined-benefit transfer. All firm, fund and client details in this worked example are fictional.

## 2. Circumstances and suitability concerns

At the advice meeting I was 58, expected to retire at 63 and described a cautious risk appetite and limited ability to absorb losses. I needed flexible access after retirement and had no other substantial investments. I say the concentration in one illiquid fund and its withdrawal restrictions were inconsistent with those needs. Please explain the risk assessment, capacity-for-loss analysis, diversification advice and alternatives considered rather than relying solely on my signed application.

## 3. Discovery and supporting records

The 28 September 2026 statement values the holding at £43,000 and says withdrawals are suspended. I first understood the suitability concern after receiving that statement and independent guidance on 1 October. I enclose the suitability report, application, risk questionnaire, fee disclosure and statements. Please preserve and provide the fact-find, call recordings, research and investment-selection rationale. The £17,000 difference from the original investment is not presented as a complete or agreed loss calculation.

## 4. Redress requested

Please assess whether the advice was suitable at the time. If not, calculate the position I would probably have been in with suitable advice, using an explained comparator and allowing for contributions, withdrawals, charges and tax treatment. Address the illiquid holding so that compensation does not leave me with double recovery or an asset I cannot dispose of. I also request consideration of avoidable distress and inconvenience. I do not ask for a guaranteed investment return or assume every market loss proves mis-selling.

## 5. Response and escalation

Please acknowledge the complaint and send a reasoned final response within the applicable eight-week complaints period. If I remain dissatisfied or no final response is sent within that period, I may refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service, subject to its jurisdiction and time limits. A referral normally needs to be made within six months of a qualifying final response; this letter does not extend any deadline. Yours faithfully, Eleanor Finch, signed 5 October 2026.
