# Rail Delay Compensation Claim

Date: 21 September 2026

Parties and reference: From: Priya Shah, 9 Elm Terrace, Southampton SO15 2PX. To: South Western Railway Delay Repay team. Booking reference EXAMPLE-DR-0914.

## 1. Journey and ticket

Dear Delay Repay Team, I claim compensation for my fictional Southampton Central to London Waterloo journey on 14 September 2026. My single ticket cost £48, was bought directly from you and was used for that journey. The itinerary showed departure at 09:00 and arrival at 10:20. The ticket, booking confirmation and itinerary are attached. The times describe this worked example, not a published timetable.

## 2. Actual arrival and evidence

The train reached London Waterloo at 11:02, making my arrival 42 minutes later than the itinerary's 10:20 arrival. I completed the journey rather than abandoning it. I enclose the disruption message and my arrival-time record and ask you to check your operational records. If your record differs, please explain the service identification and actual arrival time used.

## 3. Compensation calculation

For a 30–59 minute delay, your Delay Repay table provides 50% of the price of a single ticket. My requested compensation is therefore £48 × 50% = £24. This is not a claim for the whole return fare, a season-ticket allocation or consequential business losses. I do not claim both a full unused-ticket refund and Delay Repay for the same completed journey.

## 4. Timing and payment request

I submit this claim seven days after travel, within your stated 28-day claim period. Please acknowledge it, give a claim reference and pay any approved £24 compensation through the original payment method if available. If secure payment details are needed, please request them through your official claim portal rather than by ordinary email.

## 5. Review and sign-off

If you reject or reduce the claim, please state the applicable scheme rule and provide your internal review route. I have not submitted a duplicate claim for this ticket. I will retain the original ticket and copies of this submission until the matter is concluded. Yours faithfully, Priya Shah, signed 21 September 2026.
